Situated above an altitude of 2800 m, the Annual Dzongkhag Tshechu of Gasa is one of the biggest events celebrated in the Dzongkhag. This four-day festival is well known for its vibrant mask dances and traditional folk performances, attracting devotees and visitors from all over.
An equally popular attraction, which holds deep religious and historical significance, is the Goen-Zhey, a classical dance performed by a group of 21 men from Goen Gewog, Khatoed, and Khamaed. Additionally, the women of Laya captivate audiences with their Highland songs, showcasing their rich cultural heritage through unique traditional attire and melodious folk dances.
The Annual Tshechu will take place in the Dzong’s Drasha Courtyard and Phu-lhakhang, offering a spiritual and festive atmosphere where people gather to celebrate faith, culture, and community.
