Gasa Soechu Ltd, a community-owned company had a special meeting of the Board of Directors and Advisory Committee. In fact, it was the first meeting after the hand over of the company to the community of Gasa represented by Mr. Dorji, the major shareholder, and the promoter on 8th October 2018.

As of now the company produces and sells only bottled spring water known as Gasa Soechu. The water is sourced from a natural spring located in the vicinity of the Gasa Tashithongmoen Dzong. This water is said to be created (Drubchhu) by Drupthop Terkhungpa in the 12th century and later became the main source of water for water offering and drinking purposes in the 16th century, during the times of Zhabdrung Rimpoche. Besides being blessed the water has a ph level of 7.5.

“GASA SOECHU – ph level 7.5; blessed (drubcchu), natural spring, bottled at 3000 masl, it is community owned – meaning all households of Gasa Dzongkhag owns shares of this company.”
