"Farm Shop and Power Tiller in Lunana"

Yesterday, amidst the nationwide celebrations of the birth anniversary of 3rd Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Happy teachers' Day, Gasa Dzongkhag marked another milestone by having "Farm Shops" in all its four Gewogs. Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, the Hon'ble Foreign Minister inaugurated the "Farm Shop" in Gewog Centre at Thango in Lunana. The event was also attended by the HNC of Gasa and HMP of Khamoed and Lunana.

The Farm shop was stocked with more than 5000 kgs of assorted essential food items like rice, cooking oil, milk powder, dal, salt, tea, sugar and soaps. Due to the inherent inaccessibility of Lunana, it still takes 10 days officially from any motorable road heads, this farm shop in Lunana could be without doubt the most useful amongst all the farm shops.

In addition the Gewog was gifted with two mini power tillers, which kick start the mechanization of farming in Lunana. These two mini power tillers have also made a history by being the first ever power tillers in the Gewog.

These initiatives of the Government will go a long way in addressing the Concerns His Majesty has for the people of Highlands, in this case the Lunaps.

Dzongkhag on behalf of the people of Lunana thank the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest and the Royal Government for taking these services to such a difficult and inaccessible place like Lunana.
