November 19,2016:

Yesterday on 18/11/16 at the Centenary Farmer’s Market, Thimphu, in presence of DG and staff of BAFRA, Director and staff of DAMC, Staff from NoP, DoA, Youth group and Dzongda, DAO, ADAO, Extension staff and organic potato growers from Gasa, the marketing of certified organic potato from Gasa was launched. 
After a decade of declaring Gasa Dzongkhag as Organic, Gasa has finally got her potato and garlic certified Organic on 10/10/16. With this certification, Gasa has become the first dzongkhag to have agri products certified organic. This certification is also an important milestone in the organic agriculture history of our country.
Though two commodities , viz. potato and garlic were certified, for this season we have only about 3500 kgs of potatoes available for sale. We are confident that in due course of time, we will have many more commodities certified and also increase the scale of production. 
To start with, we are targeting the local high-end hotels, resorts and higher income individuals. And later, we hope to export our products to our neighboring countries and overseas. 
We welcome the innovators to venture into buying our products that will be priced slightly higher. And of course in the end the consumers will benefit in terms of good health and wealth, as Health is Wealth.
