4th June 2018, Gasa:
Today, Gasa joyously dedicated the World Environment Day to the celebration of the 28th Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen who is also the Royal Patron of the Environment in the country.
The highlights of the celebration were the following two voluntary pledges announced to a jubilant crowd of people gathered at the Mani Dungkor at the town center.
Pledge 1: The business community of Gasa Town pledged that once their stock of chewing gums is finished, they will not restock and not sell chewing gums anymore. So, it may not be very long, when chewing gums will be not available anymore in Gasa. This is in appreciation of the theme of the World Environment Day – “Beat plastic pollution”.
Pledge 2: The civil servants including staff of corporations will observe 4th of every month as no car office day, meaning they will walk to the office and back home.
To put into action the theme of the WED – “Beat plastic pollution”, the lunch was served in/on banana leaves, which was really fun for everyone.
We would also like to express our special thanks to National Environment Commission for generously granting us the necessary fund for the day.
