6th January 2017, Gasa
Yesterday, 5th January was a special day for Gasa, not because it was the first Thrusday of the first month of 2017 but because it our first "Gasa Going Clean" Day after 9h December 2016. On 9th December 2016, our Nation celebrated the 10 Years of the Glorious Golden Reign by offering to His Majesty our commitment to keep our country clean at all times and to make our country the cleanest. In the spirit of "Think Nationally and Act Dzongkhaglly", we adapted this commitment to – to become the cleanest Dzongkhag. To make it more meaningful and formal, this commitment was further blessed by the last DT session. The DT resolution on this reads as - “first Thursday of every month will be observed as the Gasa Going Clean Day and all offices in Dzongkhag will remain closed after lunch to participate and lead the cleaning activities.”
The Community Based Scouts (CBS) of Gasa ably led yesterday’s programme. The members of the CBS formed the core team that supervised and monitored the programme. Mass cleaning was carried in the Dzongkhag including the Gewogs. In Gasa proper, about 2 DCM and 2 bolero loads of waste were collected.
We owe a special thanks to the CBS team for their great leadership and commitment.
